Meta's Muse for Small Business: what it means if you run ads for a living

Meta's own agent can now connect to an ad account, analyse what is working and draft next week's campaign. It is US and Canada only, and the post is careful about what it does not say.

What did Meta announce?

On 29 September 2026 Meta published "The Future Is for Everyone: Muse for Small Business". It extends Muse, Meta's AI agent, to small business tasks. According to the post, Muse "can connect your Instagram professional account analytics, Facebook Pages, and Meta ad accounts in a few clicks".

One of Meta's own example prompts is the part buyers should read twice. It asks the agent how to improve ads and content, to analyse what is working, and to draft a campaign for next week. That is a fair description of a junior media buyer's Monday.

Meta also lists third-party connectors: Asana, Box, Canva, Dropbox, Figma, Granola, HighLevel, Intuit QuickBooks, Klaviyo, Lovable, Notion, Shopify, Slack, Stripe and Zoom.

What is confirmed, and what is not?

ClaimStatus
Connects to Meta ad accounts, Pages and Instagram analyticsConfirmed in Meta's post
Approval needed before anything publishes, sends or spendsConfirmed: "nothing publishes, sends, or spends without your approval"
Free for core use, paid plans for moreConfirmed, prices not given
Available in the US and CanadaConfirmed
UK or EU launch dateNot stated
Creates or launches campaigns in Ads Manager on its ownNot stated

The last row matters. "Draft a campaign" is not "run your ads", and the post does not claim the second. Anyone telling you Muse replaces Ads Manager this week is ahead of the evidence.

What changes for media buyers?

Clients will arrive with drafts. A small business owner in the US can now ask Meta's agent for a campaign plan before they speak to you. Expect "Muse suggested this, what do you think?" to become a normal opening line. Being the person who can say why a draft is wrong for this business is a stronger position than being the person who makes drafts.

The platform's agent advises inside the platform. Nothing in the announcement suggests Muse weighs Meta against Google, TikTok or email. Cross-channel judgement, blended numbers and the decision to spend less on Meta are still yours.

Approval is the new job description. Meta chose to put a human sign-off in front of every action that publishes or spends. That is the same design choice careful operators make with their own automation, and it tells you where Meta thinks the risk is.

What should you do this week?

  1. If you are in the US or Canada: connect a test account, run Meta's own example prompt, and compare the draft against what you would have built. Keep the differences. They are your pitch.
  2. If you are in the UK or EU: nothing changes in your accounts yet. Tell clients what it is before they read about it elsewhere.
  3. Everyone: tidy your account structure and naming. An agent reading a messy account will give messy advice, and so will a human.

Questions people ask

Is Muse for Small Business available in the UK?
Not at launch. Meta's announcement says it is available in the US and Canada and gives no date for other regions.
Can Muse launch and manage ad campaigns by itself?
Meta's post does not say so. It describes connecting ad accounts, analysing performance and drafting a campaign, and states that nothing publishes, sends or spends without the user's approval.
How much does it cost?
Meta says Muse is free for most of what people need, with subscription plans for more. The announcement did not include prices.
